Laura Saarivuori-Eskola – “25 Years by Hand”

Solo Exhibition of Contemporary Jewellery and Small Art Objects

2–12 June 2026 | Islahane Cultural Center, Thessaloniki

The Islahane Cultural Center is pleased to host the solo exhibition “25 Years by Hand” by Finnish artist and jewellery designer Laura Saarivuori-Eskola, from 2 to 12 June 2026.

Artistic Curatorship by Craftopia Creative Hub.

As part of the exhibition, a special “Meet the Artist” event will take place on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, offering visitors the opportunity to meet the artist in person and engage in discussions about her techniques, materials, and the concepts that shape her work.

Laura Saarivuori-Eskola’s presence in Thessaloniki represents an important opportunity for cultural exchange between Finland and Greece, fostering dialogue around contemporary craft, sustainable design, and current artistic practices.

The exhibition brings together works spanning the artist’s twenty-five-year creative journey and features unique jewellery pieces and small art objects crafted from reclaimed metal items, vintage coins, silver spoons, and cutlery.

Visitors will discover a distinctive collection of bracelets, rings, brooches, earrings, and sculptural necklaces, alongside small silver boxes and artistic objects through which Saarivuori-Eskola explores the relationship between memory, craftsmanship, sustainability, and contemporary aesthetics. Her work transforms everyday objects into narrative pieces of contemporary design, highlighting the value of reuse and materiality.

Among the exhibited works are series such as “Penny Jewelry,” created from Finnish coins, the necklaces “Chain of Silver Marks” and “Vaskesta palaset veistetty,” as well as small silver boxes crafted from repurposed silverware.

Laura Saarivuori-Eskola lives and works in Tampere, Finland. Since 2006, she has been active as a jewellery artist through her own creative practice, EKORU, while also serving as Exhibition Manager of Tampere Architecture and Design Week and playing an active role within Finland’s design and cultural sector.

Her artistic practice lies at the intersection of nature, sustainability, and traditional Finnish jewellery-making techniques. Working with reclaimed and responsibly sourced materials, she creates pieces that speak of renewal, transformation, and our relationship with consumption, beauty, and the natural world.
